Mrs. Philomena Woolley
Felix Nyante
Mr. Felix Nyante is the first Male Nurse to be appointed to the position of Registrar in August 2014 to August 2022.
Mr. Felix Nyante is the sixth (6th) Registrar of the Council since its establishment forty-two (42) years ago.His predecessors were all females. His appointment follows the passage of the Health Professions Regulatory Bodies Act, 2013 (Act 857) which reviewed the qualification for appointment to the position from Nurse-Midwife to Nurse or Midwife. Until the passage of Act 857, the Council derived its mandate from NRCD 117 and LI 683.
Education
A Fellow of the West African College of Nursing, Mr. Nyante holds a Masters Degree in Public Administration (GIMPA - Accra), Master of Arts Degree in Educational Administration (UCC - Cape Coast), Bachelor of Education (Health Sciences) (UCC - Cape Coast), Diploma in Nursing (UG - Legon) and is a State Registered Nurse (SRN). He has also done Tailor-Made-Training (TMT) programmes on Nursing and Midwifery Regulation from the Universities of Maastricht and Leiden in the Netherlands and Mass Disaster Management from the Galilee Institute, Israel, thus he is a Jerusalem Pilgrim (JP).

Experience
Mr. Nyante assumes the position with over twenty-seven (27) years of continuous dedicated and productive service to the Ministry of Health, the Ghana Health Service and the Council. Mr. Nyante was the Deputy Registrar in Charge of Operations since 2006. He acted as Registrar of the Council from January, 2014.
He is currently a member of the Ministerial Advisory Board of the Ministry of Health.
Mr. Nyante’s potential to excel in Nursing and Midwifery regulation was identified right from the time he graduated from the Nursing School. Subsequently, the Nursing and Midwifery Council engaged him as a Practical Examiner and later an Assessor. Since then, he has been actively involved in the training of Students, practicing Nurses and Midwives and has keen interest in Regulation as well as Support Supervision of Nurse/Midwife Educators and Clinicians (Preceptors) to ensure quality nursing care. Research and Publications Mr. Nyante has been involved in various research projects notably;
1. Migration trends of Ghanaian Nurses and Midwives
2. Midwifery Tutors' Capacity and Willingness to Teach Contraception, Post-Abortion Care, and Legal Pregnancy Termination in Ghana.
3. An Investigation into the Factors that Contribute to Nurse/Midwife Trainees’ Poor Performance on the Final Licensing Examinations in Ghana
4. Impact and sustainability of an accredited paediatric nursing training programme in Ghana
As part of his schedules, Mr. Nyante has, attended and in some instances, facilitated several workshops, seminars and conferences, both locally and internationally - Japan, Denmark, The Netherlands, Switzerland, Malaysia and Tanzania among others.
Personal
Born at Suhum in the Eastern region of Ghana, Mr. Nyante is married to Mrs. Gifty Naa Gyamah Nyante. They have been blessed with four beautiful girls.
Mr. Nyante is a devoted Christian who serves as an Elder at the Pentecost Church, English Assembly, La - Nkwantanang District. He is also the PTA Chairman of the Pentecost Schools in Accra.
He speaks Akuapem Twi, Fante and is currently pursuing a short course on proficiency in the Ga language.
Ms. Veronica Darko
Rev. Veronica Darko: 5th January, 2005 to February 2014. Rev. Darko was born on 14th January, 1954, she is married with two children. A native of AKropong, Rev. Veronica Darko is the immediate past Registrar/Chief Executive Officer of the Nurses and Midwives Council of Ghana.
Before assuming this position, she was the Senior Deputy Registrar of the Council. A Registered Nurse (SRN-1976) and Registered Midwife (RM-1979), she also has a Diploma in Nursing Services Administration from the University of Ghana, Legon (1985), certificate in Training of Trainers from the University of Manchester, Institute of Development, Planning & Management, (IDPM-1998), Post-graduate certificate in Gerontology under the auspices of the University of Ghana, Legon organized by the University of Malta, Masters in Educational Administration from the University of Cape-Coast (2004), and Master of Public Administration from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA 2010-2012).
Before entering nursing and midwifery regulation, Rev. Veronica Darko practiced nursing and Midwifery in two regions of Ghana, precisely Greater-Accra and Ashanti regions, specifically at the Achimota and Ridge Hospitals and Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, all in Accra, and the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi.
Ruth Gyan
Mrs. Ruth Aku Gyang: 3rd May, 1989 to 5th January, 2005 Mrs. Gyang was born on 27th June, 1944, she is married with three children.
A native of Accra, Mrs. Gyang holds a Masters in Educational Administration from the University of Cape Coast (2001) and a Diploma in Educational Administration from the University of Ghana (1980).
She also has Professional certification as a State Registered Nurse, Registered Midwife as well as a Registered Mental Nurse.
Mrs. Gyang started her career as a staff nurse at St James Hospital Sarsfield Road, London in 1967. She returned to Ghana in 1972 to take up the position of a Nurse Midwife at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital. In 1983 Mrs. Gyang joined the Council as the Deputy Registrar, a position she held until 1989 when she was appointed as Registrar.
